National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has hailed the Kenya Kwanza government for reviving the country’s economy, while urging leaders to focus on unity rather than divisive politics that could derail national progress.
Speaking in Bogusero Ward, Kisii County, on Thursday, Wetang’ula praised President William Ruto’s administration for unlocking stalled projects, expanding empowerment programs, and strengthening key sectors such as agriculture, education, and infrastructure.
“The government is committed to improving all sectors of the economy. The President is keen on raising education standards by recruiting more teachers, opening up new roads, and boosting agricultural productivity,” Wetang’ula said.
He noted that youth empowerment remains central to the administration’s agenda, revealing that 70 young people in every ward will each receive Sh50,000 to boost small and micro enterprises. “This will advance economic independence and drive progressive development. No community should be left out of the country’s grand economic plan,” he added.
At the same time, Wetang’ula appealed to leaders to promote tolerance in politics. “Let us enjoy our constitutional rights without insults, abuse, or threats. Leaders must weigh their words if we want a better-governed country,” he cautioned.
Wetang’ula was accompanied by Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, who challenged Gusii leaders to rise above ethnic politics. “Our words must foster peace and unity. Nobody has the monopoly to restrict movement. Kenyans will make their choice at the ballot in 2027,” he said.
Other leaders present included Kisii Woman Representative Dorice Donya, who lauded the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), alongside MPs Silvanus Osoro, Jonah Ngeno, Japheth Nyakundi, Alfa Miruka, Steve Mogaka, Jerusha Momanyi, and Nominated Senator Essy Okenyuri.
They collectively urged the Gusii community to seize available development opportunities under the Kenya Kwanza administration instead of drifting into opposition politics.
