KPLC Announces Power Cuts in Five Counties on Thursday

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced scheduled power interruptions affecting several areas in five counties on Thursday. The power cuts, which are part of routine maintenance and upgrades, will take place at varying times throughout the day, from 9 am to 5 pm. The counties set to experience these interruptions include Nakuru, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Meru, and Murang’a. Below is a detailed schedule of the affected areas and the respective times of interruption:

Nakuru County

In Nakuru, power interruptions will occur from 9 am to 5 pm in the following areas:

  • Olrongai Centre and its environs, including Gitau Centre, Olrongai Raymond, Komen, Duka Moja, Redwing, Tulwobmoi, Agrico Potatoes, and Marigo B.

Additionally, parts of Pipeline and Wanyama will face power cuts from 9 am to 3 pm. The specific areas affected include:

  • Stem Hotel, Kenya Pipeline, West Build, Joddies, Ken Chick, Lake Nakuru Lodge, Shimo Mbili, Delamere, and Kwa Mwariki.

Residents and businesses in these areas should expect a full day’s outage, significantly affecting operations in sectors reliant on electricity.

Uasin Gishu County

In Uasin Gishu, power interruptions are scheduled between 10 am and 4 pm, affecting the following locations:

  • Chepkongi Primary School and Lower Sosiani.

From 10 am to 5 pm, the power will be interrupted in areas including:

  • Chemaluk, Sego Girls, and Konda.

  • Chebororwa, Duka Moja, Koitugum, Kaptiony, and Kokwet.

This interruption, stretching across significant parts of the county, could disrupt daily activities, including those related to agriculture and commerce.

Meru County

Meru will experience power cuts from 9 am to 5 pm in areas such as:

  • Mafuko Bakery, Gulf Petrol Station, Kagaa, Runogone, Chugu, KEMU University, Fred’s Academy, Kithoka, Ripples, Runogone, and Chugu.

These outages could affect businesses, schools, and residential areas, making it crucial for those affected to have backup plans, especially businesses that heavily rely on continuous power supply.

Murang’a County

Murang’a will experience widespread power interruptions from 9 am to 5 pm, with affected areas including:

  • Kamukombini Motel, Kiarutara, Wanyaga, Gaturi, Mwago, Gateiguru, Kiganjo, Gatura, Mugumoini, Gatura Market, Gatura Secondary, Mwago Secondary, and Kiroche.

Additionally, other areas such as New Wood East, JKUAT University, Kalimoni Secondary, Kalimoni Hospital, Juja Modern Hospital, Theta Hotel, Star of Hope East, Kwa Woria, Bristar Girls School, Faith East, Gate C, St. Peters School, parts of Gachororo, Juja Police Station, Elmark East, Juja Main Stage, Green Field East, Juja Sewage, Juja South, Kanini Farm East, Kenyatta Road, Turraco Village, and Superhighway East will also face power cuts.

  • Sasini EPZ, Cianda Farm, Ndumberi, Ngemwa, Ngaita, Riabai, Migaa, Kenton, Marion School, St. Anne’s Lioki, Karia, Wimsy, Todas, Migaa Golf, Mugumo, St. Joseph the Worker, Gitamayu, Tinganga S/Centre, Digro Investment, and Fairview East.

Areas including Limuru Town, Karanjee, Kwambera, Ngenia, Thigio, Gitutha, Nguirubi, and Ndioni are also on the list for power interruptions.
