A chilling incident has left residents of Marurui area in Kasarani, Nairobi, in shock after the lifeless body of a 66-year-old lecturer was found barely 25 meters from his home. The deceased, Allan Kioko Kitavi, was a well-known educator at the Kenya Power and Lighting Company Training School. His brutal killing has triggered an active police investigation.
According to initial accounts, the elderly man had arrived home on the evening of Thursday, July 31, around 5 pm. Family members reported that he was in good spirits and later mentioned he was stepping out briefly to run errands at a nearby shopping center. When he failed to return by 10 pm, the family grew anxious and began searching the neighborhood.
Their worst fears were confirmed when they discovered his body lying on a driveway near their home. The body showed signs of having been partially burnt, suggesting a possible attempt to destroy evidence. The area was quickly secured by law enforcement officers, and the body was transferred to a nearby mortuary where an autopsy will be conducted.
Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the heinous act. So far, no arrests have been made, but authorities have assured the public that a full probe is underway. The gruesome nature of the killing has raised concerns among local residents, with many calling for increased security and surveillance in the area.
In a separate incident in Bomet County, another murder was reported in Kimuchul village involving a 52-year-old man, Paul Cheruiyot. His body was found lying in a pool of blood within his sister’s compound. Witnesses recounted that he had been engaged in a heated argument with another man, allegedly over a love triangle.
The confrontation escalated, resulting in the assailant stabbing Cheruiyot on the left side of the chest. The attacker fled the scene immediately after the incident, and a manhunt has since been launched. A bloodstained kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene and secured as evidence.
Both cases have sent shockwaves through their respective communities, with residents urging law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
