Detectives are investigating the shocking murder of a 78-year-old woman who was found dead outside a house in Machakos Town under mysterious circumstances.
The victim, identified as Esther Kadogo, was an employee at a local hotel and also worked as a caretaker on a farm in the area. She was discovered dead on Sunday, August 17, with visible injuries to her ear and white substance oozing from her mouth and nose, pointing to the possibility of a violent assault.
Police reports indicate that the assailants attacked her before fleeing the scene. Her half-naked body was abandoned outside the house, raising suspicions of possible sexual assault. Authorities also noted that about ten dogs that were usually in the compound could not be accounted for. Investigators suspect the animals were either stolen or killed during the attack.
A search for the missing dogs has been mounted, but efforts so far have been fruitless. The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary for postmortem as detectives continue with investigations to establish the motive behind the brutal killing. No arrests have been made yet.
Meanwhile, other violent incidents have been reported across the country. In Kabete, Kiambu County, a 22-year-old man is fighting for his life after being stabbed in the stomach by his girlfriend during a heated argument. The attack left him with serious injuries that required emergency surgery at Kenyatta National Hospital. He is currently admitted in the Intensive Care Unit. The suspect fled after the stabbing but is being sought by police.
In another case in Kapsania, Trans Nzoia County, a 38-year-old woman was critically injured after being stabbed in the chest by her boyfriend during a domestic altercation at her home. She was rushed to hospital in critical condition, while the suspect escaped the scene soon after the attack. The weapon used in the assault was recovered at the scene, and efforts to track down the attacker are ongoing.
These cases highlight the growing concerns around violent crime and domestic disputes across the country. Security agencies are urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their communities as investigations continue.
