A man in Baringo County has surrendered to the police after fatally stabbing his wife in a domestic dispute. The incident took place on October 20, 2025, in the Lopolos sub-location of Koibatek, where 30-year-old Sheila Changwony was found dead in her home. According to the police, the assailant, who is the victim’s husband, fled the scene following the altercation. He later contacted a relative, claiming that they had fought, and he suspected that his wife was dead.
The relative alerted neighbors, who broke into the house to find Changwony’s body lying on the bed, covered by a blanket. Police were notified, and they retrieved the body for a post-mortem examination and further investigations.
The husband, fearing retaliation from a local mob, later turned himself in at a nearby police station. He is currently in custody while authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder. Police have assured that the suspect will face prosecution once the investigation is completed.
This tragic event is part of a troubling trend of increasing domestic violence and unresolved disputes escalating into fatal confrontations. Law enforcement agencies are urging members of the community to seek help in resolving conflicts without resorting to violence, emphasizing the importance of intervention and the legal process.
In other related incidents, a man was stoned to death in Kisumu County after being accused of stealing a water meter. The man was found with the stolen meter, prompting the local community to take justice into their own hands. The mob also set his body on fire before police arrived to secure the scene. Authorities have condemned such acts of mob justice, calling for legal proceedings rather than vigilante actions.
Elsewhere in Mandera County, 60-year-old Mohamud Abdullahi Noor was shot and killed by unknown assailants while tending to his livestock. Similarly, in Turkana County, another man was fatally shot by gunmen, with the perpetrators believed to be armed bandits. Both incidents are under investigation by the police, who are working to uncover the motives behind the attacks.
These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in managing violence and crime in various regions of Kenya. Efforts such as the multi-agency Operation Maliza Uhalifu have been initiated to combat banditry and restore safety to affected areas.
