A short-stay house cleaner has given a detailed account of her encounter with the prime suspect in the murder of socialite Starlet Wahu, shedding light on events surrounding the tragic incident.
Testifying before the Milimani High Court, the cleaner recounted how she was sent by her employer to collect payment from a client who had checked into room Y32 on the fourth floor of Papino Apartment. She had been working as a cleaner for the short-stay houses since 2022 and also assisted at a salon located in the Sanasana area of South B.
According to her testimony, she approached the unit where she was met by a man at the door. She identified the man as tall, dark-skinned, with somewhat long hair and wearing a blue shirt. She informed him that she had come to collect Ksh3,200 for the house booking. The man, later identified as the accused in the case, handed her the money using his right hand and reminded her that she had not given him the WIFI password before she left.

She told the court that she had never seen the man before this encounter. During her testimony, the prosecution asked her to confirm whether the person in the dock was the same individual she met that day, to which she replied in the affirmative.
In addition to collecting the payment, she recalled the man expressing his desire to check out of the apartment at noon the following day. However, she insisted that standard checkout time was at 10 a.m., and she informed him accordingly.
The cleaner emphasized that she did not witness any violent activity during her visit to the apartment. She neither heard any commotion nor had any indication that anything was wrong at the time. Furthermore, she could not confirm how many people were in the apartment during her brief visit, as she only interacted with the man who answered the door.
The court proceedings continue to piece together evidence and witness testimony to establish the facts of the case. The hearing was adjourned and is set to resume on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
