A tragic incident in Nyamira County has left residents in shock after a five-year-old girl died following a beating allegedly administered by her parents. The heartbreaking event occurred on the morning of September 30, 2025, in Kebirigo, where the young girl’s parents now face serious questions over the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to initial reports, the parents claimed that their daughter, who they said suffered from epilepsy, collapsed during the incident. However, police noted that the child’s body bore visible injuries on the head and face, raising doubts about the couple’s explanation. Witnesses at the residential apartment reported hearing the girl scream as she was being beaten, only for the cries to suddenly go silent.
The parents later rushed the child to a nearby hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival. The body has since been preserved at the mortuary as investigations continue, with an autopsy expected to establish the actual cause of death.
In a separate case in Kilifi County, another family is demanding justice after their 15-year-old daughter died from head injuries allegedly inflicted by a teacher. The Grade 8 pupil at Gongoni Primary School in Vipingo reportedly developed severe headaches before being admitted to Kilifi Referral Hospital, where she later succumbed. A post-mortem revealed internal bleeding and multiple head injuries caused by a blunt object. The revelations have triggered outrage among parents in the community, who are calling for accountability from the school administration.
Elsewhere, a suspected murder in Bungoma County has also drawn police attention after the body of a 60-year-old man was discovered in his home in Matisi, Webuye. The man, who had been missing for several days, was found lying on his bed with multiple injuries. The motive behind the killing remains unclear, with investigations still ongoing.
Additionally, in Kilifi Town, police are investigating the killing of a boda boda rider whose body was discovered along the Tezo-Kilifi Road. Officers reported finding blood at the scene, alongside an unopened soda and fifty shillings. The victim, identified as Amani Gohu, had visible injuries, and authorities are working to establish the motive behind the murder.
The series of violent deaths across Nyamira, Kilifi, and Bungoma counties highlights the rising wave of homicide cases in different parts of the country. Authorities have acknowledged the worrying trend and pledged to speed up investigations as grieving families demand justice for their loved ones.
