A warrant of arrest has been issued against Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi after he failed to appear in court on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, for a scheduled plea-taking session. The court directed law enforcement to apprehend the MP alongside two other individuals, Peter Kiratu and Njuguna alias Njugush, who were also expected to attend the proceedings but failed to show up.
The trio faces allegations related to a staged abduction and conspiracy to obstruct justice. According to the prosecution, the alleged plan was aimed at preventing Koimburi’s arrest in connection with an ongoing case involving multiple land fraud charges. Court documents indicate that the accused conspired to fake the MP’s kidnapping on May 25, 2025, in the Mugutha area of Juja Sub-County, Kiambu County.
The charge sheet reveals that the staged abduction was intended to delay legal proceedings against the legislator following directives from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP). The DPP had earlier instructed that Koimburi be arraigned at the Kiambu Law Courts to answer to charges stemming from the land fraud allegations. The abduction plot reportedly involved a total of seven individuals.
During the court session, four co-accused Kanyenya-ini MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu, Peter Kiratu Mbari, David Macharia Gatana, and Cyrus Muhia appeared and pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to defeat justice under Section 117(c) of the Penal Code. They denied any involvement in the alleged scheme.
The prosecution did not oppose the release of the four on bond, noting that they had previously been granted Ksh300,000 cash bail and had cooperated with investigations. The court allowed them to retain the same bail terms but imposed an additional condition requiring each to provide three contact persons.
The case is set for mention on August 5, 2025, when the three absentees, including Koimburi, are expected to appear and take their pleas. If they fail to comply, the arrest warrants will remain in force, and further legal action may be taken against them.
This development adds a dramatic twist to the legal troubles surrounding the Juja legislator, who is already under scrutiny over alleged involvement in fraudulent land dealings. The unfolding case will now hinge on whether the MP and his co-accused honor the court’s summons in the upcoming session.
