Residents of Chuka Town were left in shock after the decomposing body of a man was discovered in his parked car. The grim discovery was made on Monday, September 29, 2025, following concerns from the local community about a vehicle that had been stationary and locked for several days.
Upon receiving reports from the public, police authorities inspected the car and found the man’s lifeless body inside. The man, who was last seen on Friday, September 26, 2025, had not been in contact with his family since he left home, and his whereabouts were unknown to them.
After the authorities opened the vehicle, it was confirmed that the man had died. Police managed to identify the body, but have not yet revealed the name of the deceased pending formal notification of the family.
Inside the vehicle, investigators discovered two charcoal jikos that appeared to have been used and subsequently burnt out. This has raised concerns about the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning as the cause of death, although no definitive conclusion has been reached. Authorities are still conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Chuka North Sub-County Police Commander Paul Kuria expressed sadness over the discovery and emphasized the importance of addressing personal challenges in healthy ways. He urged individuals to reach out for support from family members or professional counselors rather than resorting to drastic measures in times of distress.
The body was transported to Chuka General Hospital for a postmortem, as investigations continue into the exact cause of death. The case remains under active review by the police and relevant authorities.
