A beautician and long-term businesswoman has told the court that she had direct communication with DJ Fatxo on the same night Jeff Mwathi lost his life.
In her testimony, she revealed that Fatxo had been her customer for years, regularly purchasing hair products from her shop. About ten days before the tragic incident, he had ordered curling cream and foam cream worth Ksh3,500. On February 21, 2023, she sent him a reminder message at around 10:48 pm, asking him to pick up the products and clear the payment.
According to the beautician, Fatxo did not reply to the text but surprised her with a call at 4 am. She ignored his first attempt, but when he rang again immediately, she answered. He told her that he had been busy during the day and insisted he needed to collect the products at that odd hour.
She explained that the products were in her house, and within ten minutes, Fatxo arrived at her apartment gate. The DJ, however, did not step out of his vehicle, nor did they engage in any lengthy conversation. He collected the products and promised to send the payment later that morning. True to his word, he made the transfer at around 8:30 am.
When asked why he was out that late, Fatxo allegedly told her he had just come from a meeting at Safari Park. She clarified that their communication was strictly business and nothing beyond that.
During cross-examination, lawyers sought to establish if she knew more about his movements that night. She admitted she was not aware of where else he had been before arriving at her gate, nor was she interested in who he had been with.
The testimony added a new layer to the ongoing investigation, raising questions about Fatxo’s timeline and activities in the hours leading up to Jeff Mwathi’s death. While the beautician maintained her account was strictly about business, the unusual timing of the transaction has drawn attention from both the prosecution and defense teams.
