An elderly woman was discovered murdered and her body dumped along a footpath in Bumula, Bungoma County, sparking a police investigation into the brutal killing. The woman, identified as 80-year-old Marceline Nasambu Wambuti, was found in a swampy area within South Bukusu village after being missing for two days.
Authorities reported that the motive behind the killing remains unclear, though investigations are ongoing to determine whether the victim was sexually assaulted before her death. Officers moved the body to a local mortuary, where a postmortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
According to local residents, the elderly woman lived alone, and her disappearance had raised concern among neighbours before her body was found on October 9, 2025. In a separate incident in Rigoma, Nyamira County, a 60-year-old man identified as Nyakundi Mwamba was found dead on a footpath under gruesome circumstances.
