Police in Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County, have arrested three brothers in connection with the mysterious death of their sibling, identified as Ochieng, aged 40. The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through Adiedo village, where the body of the deceased was discovered early Saturday morning, lying by the roadside about 400 meters from his home.
Ochieng’s body bore visible injuries to the head, hands, and legs. Concerned family members rushed him to Kendubay Sub-county Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The police were subsequently called to the hospital, where they confirmed the death and began preliminary investigations.
Upon visiting the family’s home, detectives uncovered disturbing evidence. Inside the compound, officers recovered an axe, two clubs, and a slasher, all of which were stained with what appeared to be blood. More blood stains were spotted on the walls of the family kitchen, although it appeared an attempt had been made to clean the area. Additionally, investigators found discarded items believed to be related to the crime in a nearby maize plantation.
These findings sharply contradicted initial claims that Ochieng had died by the roadside, prompting detectives to suspect that the murder may have occurred within the homestead itself. The three brothers were immediately taken into custody for questioning as forensic experts continue to piece together the events leading up to the death. Ochieng’s body was moved to the mortuary, where a postmortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
In a separate incident in Kuria, Migori County, a 38-year-old man identified as Josephat Moi Marwa was killed following an altercation with a man known to him. Marwa sustained deep cuts on his face and arm and succumbed to his injuries shortly after the attack.
A 71-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene, and a weapon believed to have been used in the assault was recovered. However, detectives believe the crime may have occurred elsewhere, citing the absence of blood stains at the discovery site. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
