Residents of Elburgon, Nakuru County, are reeling in shock after a farmhand was arrested on suspicion of brutally murdering an elderly couple in their home. The victims, aged 70 and 72, were reported missing on the night of Saturday, September 13, 2025, sparking fear and concern within the community.
Investigations revealed a chilling confession by the suspect, who admitted to killing his employers before disposing of their bodies in a borehole within the compound. Acting on this confession, police officers, supported by local residents, retrieved the bodies and transferred them to Elburgon Hospital Mortuary.
The suspect was apprehended and placed under police custody for interrogation. Authorities confirmed that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has since taken over the case to establish the motive behind the gruesome act. The individual is also set to undergo a medical examination as part of the investigative process.
Molo Sub-County security officials called on residents to remain vigilant and calm as the matter is pursued to its conclusion. They assured the public that justice would be served for the slain couple, whose sudden and violent deaths have deeply shaken the town.
Area leaders expressed sympathy with the bereaved families and appealed for patience to allow law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough probe. They urged locals not to engage in speculation but instead to cooperate with security officers as investigations continue.
This incident has renewed concerns over community safety, with calls for enhanced vigilance in rural homesteads where employers rely heavily on domestic and farm workers. The tragedy also highlighted the need for stronger conflict resolution and trust-building within households.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Kitengela, Kajiado County, a 24-year-old woman was arrested after fatally stabbing her 38-year-old husband during a domestic quarrel. The man, who worked as a tout, died from a thigh stab wound while undergoing treatment. Reports indicate that the couple, who had earlier attended a church service together, began quarreling in the evening, escalating into a violent confrontation that ended tragically.
Authorities in Kitengela cautioned couples against resolving disputes violently, urging them instead to seek dialogue and peaceful solutions. They reiterated that life is sacred and warned against taking matters into one’s own hands during conflicts.
Both incidents have sparked widespread grief and reflection across the country, as communities grapple with the devastating impact of domestic and household violence.
