A shocking incident unfolded in Kisumu County on the evening of October 1, 2025, when a motorist was brutally stabbed to death by assailants on a motorcycle. The attack occurred in the Koranda village, Dago area, leaving the local community in shock and fear.
According to reports, the victim, identified as 30-year-old Silas Onyango Mogo, was seated in the co-driver’s seat of a car driven by his wife. As they were traveling home, their vehicle was suddenly blocked by a motorcycle with a rider and two passengers. In a swift and violent move, the two passengers dismounted and approached the car. They opened the co-driver’s door and attacked Mogo, stabbing him in the head multiple times.
The assailants did not stop there; they dragged Mogo out of the car and continued to stab him, inflicting fatal injuries. The victim succumbed to the wounds on the spot. His wife, terrified for her own safety, fled the scene on foot, abandoning the car on the road.
When police arrived, they found Mogo’s body with severe injuries to the head, neck, chest, stomach, and both arms. Authorities have since moved the body to the mortuary, pending an autopsy, while launching an investigation into the crime. The attackers, however, managed to escape, and efforts are underway to track them down.
This violent road attack is part of a worrying trend in the region, where incidents of motorists being attacked have been on the rise. The police are working to identify the motive behind the stabbing, which remains unclear. This is not the first such attack in the area; the recent shooting of former Kasipul MP Ong’ondo Were by gunmen is another example of the growing concerns over safety on the roads.
Residents of Kisumu County are now left shaken by the brutal act, with many calling for increased security measures and a stronger law enforcement presence to ensure the safety of motorists. The authorities have assured the public that they are actively pursuing the attackers and will do everything in their power to bring them to justice.
In a related incident in Migori County, a Tanzanian national was also killed during a confrontation at a mining site. The victim succumbed to injuries after being attacked by his fellow countrymen. Police are investigating the incident, and efforts are being made to locate the assailants, who are believed to have fled to Tanzania.
As these incidents continue to spark public concern, there is growing pressure on the authorities to step up efforts to combat violent crime and improve public safety.
