Detectives in Nairobi are investigating the mysterious death of a female student who was found lifeless in her room at a private hostel in Kasarani. The victim, identified as Erika Kinyua, was a student at one of the local institutions. Her body was discovered on the afternoon of Friday, October 24, 2025, after concerned relatives and hostel staff went to check on her.
According to reports, Erika’s relative became worried when repeated calls went unanswered. The relative visited the hostel and sought help from the security team to find out why she was not responding. Together, they went to her room and made the tragic discovery — Erika had already died.
Police say the exact cause of death is yet to be established. The body was moved to the mortuary, where a postmortem examination will be conducted to determine what led to her death. Investigators have launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a separate tragedy, a 27-year-old man identified as Blair Makau lost his life after falling from the fifth floor of an apartment in the Pipeline area, Nairobi. The incident occurred on the evening of October 23 when Makau reportedly slipped while standing on his balcony. Police are investigating the case to determine whether foul play was involved.

His body was later found floating in the lake and was taken to the mortuary for postmortem and further procedures.
Meanwhile, in Nakuru County, the body of a missing man, Samuel Ngugi, was found in Karia Dam in Elburgon, Molo. Ngugi had been reported missing on October 22, and police believe he may have died by suicide. Disturbingly, this was the same location where his twin brother had taken his life years earlier.
In another case, a 23-year-old man identified as Jeremiah Lankai Seruni died in Wote Town, Makueni, after being assaulted by unknown attackers. Police have launched investigations and are pursuing leads to identify and arrest the suspects.
