Police are investigating a disturbing wave of murders across various parts of Kenya, following the discovery of several bodies in separate incidents this week. The cases, reported in Kakamega, Bungoma, Garissa, and Narok counties, have raised alarm over the rising murder rate, with authorities confirming that up to eight killings are reported daily nationwide.
In Dadaab, Garissa County, police are probing the death of an unidentified refugee whose body was found abandoned on the roadside in the Ifo camp. The man’s remains were discovered in a bush along the Ifo-Hagadera feeder road, bearing deep cuts on the neck and abdomen. Investigators believe the victim was attacked elsewhere before being dumped at the scene. The body was moved to a local mortuary pending identification and a postmortem.
A separate case in Kakamega County saw the discovery of a woman’s body floating on River Isiukhu in Bukasi village, Malaika. Residents retrieved the partially decomposed remains before police arrived. The cause of death and possible motive remain unclear as the body awaits an autopsy.
In Bungoma’s Misikhu area, another grim discovery was made along River Nzoia in Stabicha village. The victim, identified as 41-year-old Moris Wekesa, was found with deep cuts on the head and neck. Authorities suspect he was murdered elsewhere before his body was dumped in the river. The motive behind the killing remains unknown.
Meanwhile, in Narok County’s Nairegie Enkare area, police are investigating the murder of a woman identified as Jane Lasio, 45. Her body was found half-naked and trapped under a motorcycle along the Mpeuti-Centre C murram road. She had a fractured left hand, and the motorcycle’s rider was missing from the scene. Police believe foul play was involved and have launched a manhunt for the suspect.
The recent incidents underscore a worrying trend of violent crimes spreading across the country. Despite ongoing efforts by law enforcement, the surge in murder cases continues to pose a major challenge. The homicide department has intensified investigations, promising swift action to bring perpetrators to justice and restore public confidence in security measures.
