A housegirl in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area has reportedly stolen her employer’s firearm, cash, title deeds, and various valuables after being left alone in the house on November 3, 2025. The employer, a licensed firearm holder, discovered the theft after returning from errands with his family. He found the portable safe, which had been stored in his bedroom wardrobe, was missing.
The safe contained a Glock pistol with two magazines and 40 bullets, USD 1,950, Euros 600, Sh5,000 in assorted jewelry, land title deeds, and other electronics. According to the employer, the housegirl fled with the safe, which was concealed in a carton. Security cameras at the property captured footage of the woman walking out of the house with the carton, and the guards on duty reported that they had thought she had been sent out on an errand.
The police have launched an investigation and are working to trace the woman, fearing that she may sell the stolen weapon for criminal purposes. Authorities have emphasized the need for swift action to recover the firearm and cash.
In a separate incident, police in Bondo, Siaya County, are investigating a robbery where four armed assailants attacked a man returning home from a shopping center. The robbers, armed with knives and AK-47 rifles, stole gold valued at Sh90,000, Sh40,000 in cash, and mobile phones from the victim’s house. The gang escaped in a waiting vehicle, and efforts are underway to locate them.
Meanwhile, in Nyatike, Migori County, police are investigating the death of a 26-year-old man, Oduor Opiyo, who was fatally assaulted by his brothers after a domestic argument. The brothers reportedly accused Opiyo of insulting their mother before attacking him. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
In Murang’a, police are investigating the death of a convict at Maranjau GK Prison. The 53-year-old inmate, serving a one-year sentence for drug trafficking, complained of stomach pains before being transferred to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations are ongoing in all cases as police work to make arrests and recover the stolen items.
