Police in Huruma, Starehe Sub-County, recovered a firearm after a person of interest fled during a routine night patrol in the early hours of Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers encountered a suspicious individual who ran upon noticing the police presence. During the pursuit, the suspect dropped an item later identified as a firearm. The weapon was secured, documented by crime scene personnel, and is now under safe custody pending further investigations.
“Police officers in Huruma recovered a firearm during a routine night patrol. The individual fled upon seeing the police, dropping the item before disappearing into a dark passageway. Officers quickly secured the area and recovered the weapon, which is now in safe custody for examination,” the NPS statement read.
Authorities have launched efforts to track down the suspect, with investigative teams actively following leads. The NPS commended the alertness and quick response of the officers involved, urging the public to provide information that could help enhance community safety.
This incident comes shortly after a major raid in Lamu, where police arrested four people following the discovery of weapons and drugs in the Wiyoni area. During the operation, officers recovered pangas, spears, metal rods, and a large quantity of cannabis sativa. The suspects are currently held at Lamu Police Station and are expected to be presented in court soon.
