Police in Kajiado County have recovered a firearm and various items linked to criminal activities during an intelligence-led operation aimed at dismantling a suspected criminal gang.
The operation began in Kagio, Kirinyaga County, and was later extended to Kiserian township in Kajiado. Officers intercepted a vehicle carrying individuals believed to have been conducting surveillance for criminal purposes.
A search of the vehicle revealed a walkie-talkie, assorted SIM cards, mobile phones, spotlights, surgical gloves, and other items suspected to facilitate illegal activities. The discovery underscored the gang’s preparedness and intent to commit organized crimes.
The focus of the operation later shifted to a residential area in Kiserian, where authorities arrested another individual. During a thorough search of the premises, police recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with ammunition, a tear gas canister, additional mobile phones, another walkie-talkie, and several house-breaking tools.
Crime scene investigators processed the area, documenting the findings as part of the ongoing investigation. All individuals connected to the operation remain in custody while authorities continue to gather evidence and build cases against the suspected gang members.
Police commended the swift action of officers involved and reassured the public of their commitment to dismantling organized criminal groups. The operation aligns with ongoing efforts by security agencies to safeguard communities and maintain public safety, particularly in areas identified as hotspots for criminal activity.
Officials emphasized that intelligence-led raids are central to preempting criminal operations and preventing violent incidents. The recovered items, including the high-powered rifle and tear gas canister, highlight the potential threat posed by such gangs and the importance of proactive policing measures.
This operation reflects a broader strategy by law enforcement to disrupt organized crime networks, apprehend perpetrators, and reduce the risk posed to residents. Continued vigilance, community cooperation, and strategic interventions are expected to further strengthen public safety in Kajiado and neighboring regions.
