A 34-year-old man was tragically stabbed to death in Kasarani, Nairobi, following a domestic altercation, police have confirmed.
The deceased, identified as Paul Maina, had visited a woman’s home on Wednesday, November 19, to fix malfunctioning speakers. The woman was known to Maina, but police confirmed there was no romantic relationship between them.
According to authorities, the incident occurred as Maina was leaving the house in the evening. The woman’s partner reportedly arrived, and an argument ensued between the couple. Maina attempted to intervene and separate them, prompting the partner to allegedly attack him with a knife.
“The suspect allegedly stabbed Maina in the chest and stomach,” a police statement said. Maina was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The suspect fled the scene immediately following the attack. Police confirmed that efforts to locate and arrest him are ongoing.
The woman involved was later questioned by authorities to clarify her account of the events. Investigators revisited the property as part of the ongoing probe.
Police noted that incidents of this nature have been rising, often linked to disputes over personal relationships, property, or finances. The homicide unit handles murder cases nationwide, with an estimated eight cases reported daily, some of which remain unresolved.
Meanwhile, in a separate case in Samuru, Gatanga, Murang’a County, police discovered human skeletal remains in a sack within a thicket. The remains were taken to a local mortuary for autopsy and identification, with investigations ongoing to establish the cause and time of death.
Authorities have urged the public to assist in reporting any information that could lead to the arrest of suspects in violent crimes. They also emphasized the importance of resolving disputes peacefully to prevent such tragedies.
As investigations continue in Kasarani, the community is left grappling with the shock of another violent incident. Police have assured residents that they are intensifying efforts to ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.
