A family in Kayole is in deep mourning and calling for justice after their 11-year-old son, Fred Omondi, was found murdered and mutilated in a fenced compound near Maua Primary School in the Chokaa area. The chilling incident has shocked residents and prompted a police investigation.
Fred had been reported missing on June 4, 2025, at Mihango Police Station. According to his distraught parents, the boy had come to Kayole to spend the school holiday with a relative. Tragically, the next day, his body was discovered in a horrific state, showing signs of torture and mutilation.
A postmortem conducted at Mama Lucy Hospital confirmed that Fred died from severe assault and strangulation. The body was extensively bruised, his left hand was missing, and his head bore three deep cuts, all suggesting a violent and deliberate killing. The attending pathologist also noted that some injuries were caused post-mortem, possibly by scavenging dogs that fed on the body after death.
Njiru Sub-county Police Commander John Owuoth confirmed the case and assured the public that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were following strong leads. “We received the missing person report on June 4th, and by the following day, the body had been found. The DCI has taken over the investigations. Though no arrests have been made yet, we are confident we will unearth the truth and bring the perpetrators to book,” he stated.
Both the landlord of the compound where the body was found and the family have recorded statements at the Kayole Police Station. The deputy DCIO has also visited the scene and documented it thoroughly, awaiting forensic analysis before any arrests are made.
Fred’s grieving family is appealing for swift justice. “Our son came to visit us for the holidays. We never imagined we would bury him instead,” said his father. The community remains on edge as authorities intensify their efforts to ensure those responsible face the full force of the law.
