Kenya has witnessed several tragic deaths in recent days, with incidents reported in Kisii, Bomet, Siaya, Mandera, and Nairobi counties.
In Kisii County, detectives launched investigations after the body of 37-year-old Elizabeth Kemunto was discovered in tea bushes in Ramasha, approximately 500 metres from her home. Police noted that her body had visible bruises, suggesting she may have been killed before being found. The body was moved to the mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted. Authorities are yet to determine the motive behind her death, and no arrests have been made.
In Bomet County, the body of Tito Cheruiyot, missing for four days, was recovered in a dam at Gethsemane waterpoint, Chebole. Police said Cheruiyot had been accused of theft before being fatally assaulted in a house. Four suspects have been arrested and led authorities to the body, while police continue to search for another suspect. The body has been taken to a local mortuary for postmortem examination.
Siaya County also reported a death after police discovered the body of Daniel Akoko on a farm in Nyamonye, Bondo. The cause of his death remains unclear, and his body was moved to a mortuary pending postmortem investigations.
In Mandera County, a 105-year-old woman, Habiba Gonjobo, tragically died in a fire incident in Kutulo. Police said the fire was accidentally started by a teenage girl who had been asked to light a fire in the grass-thatched house. The girl left briefly to fetch milk, only to return and find the house engulfed in flames.
Nairobi County recorded another fire-related death in Buruburu’s Carton area, where a man reportedly suffered electrocution while helping contain a spreading fire. Several structures were destroyed, and the body was taken to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.
Authorities across the affected counties continue investigations into these tragic deaths to establish causes and hold responsible parties accountable.
