In a shocking incident that went viral over the past few days, a Kenyan employee was assaulted by his employer in what appeared to be a warehouse in Eldoret. The confrontation escalated when the employer allegedly picked up an iron sheet and hit the worker, prompting widespread outrage online. Many called for legal action, highlighting the vulnerability of employees in such situations.
However, the narrative took an unexpected turn on Sunday, November 16, 2025, when an updated video showed the Kenyan man forgiving his employer. In the video, the worker is seen shaking hands with the foreign boss and affirming his decision to continue working under him.
“I have forgiven him and I do not have a problem with him anymore, and I still want to work here,” the man stated. He also addressed those criticizing his choice, saying, “Next time, if there is a problem, he will call me to his office and I will accept my mistakes. But I have forgiven him. I will not listen to what people say because the disagreement has ended. He is my boss, and he will remain my boss.”
The act of forgiveness, however, sparked mixed reactions online. Many Kenyans criticized the decision, describing the relationship as toxic and speculating that the forgiveness video may have been recorded under pressure following the viral assault footage.
Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment, Geoffrey Mosiria, weighed in on the incident, urging the public to report videos showing foreigners bullying workers. He cited a recent case in Diani involving a Dutch national harassing a police officer, emphasizing that such behavior should not be tolerated in Kenya.
“As a leader, I cannot sit and watch Kenyans or even non-Kenyans being harassed on our soil. This rising culture of bullying and intimidation must stop immediately. We must protect our people,” Mosiria stated.
The Eldoret case continues to spark discussions on workplace rights, forgiveness, and the limits of employer authority, highlighting the need for stronger protections for employees across Kenya.
