Nairobi County’s Environment Chief Officer, Geoffrey Mosiria, has called on the police to act after a woman was filmed violently assaulting traders at Kisumu Kibuye Market.
In a social media post on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Mosiria expressed outrage over the incident, describing the woman as “dangerous” and targeting anyone who opposed her. “Is this woman above the law? She keeps assaulting fellow women within Kisumu Kibuye Market. She calls herself the chairlady or something of that sort. She is a threat to our mothers and sisters there,” he said.
Mosiria highlighted the severity of the attacks, noting that the woman had caused serious injuries to several youths and others who dared confront her. “You dare go against her, boom, she’s on your neck. Some have been left with lifetime injuries due to her actions,” he added.
The Environment Chief Officer urged citizens to report the matter and called for immediate intervention by the authorities. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation and justice to be served. “We cannot allow this kind of impunity to continue. Those responsible must be held accountable, and let this serve as a strong warning to anyone who thinks they can break the law without consequences,” Mosiria stated.
The incident gained attention after a video circulated online showing the woman assaulting a mother in the market. Mosiria described the attack as “vibaya sana na kumpiga kama nyoka” and appealed to authorities to ensure traders and residents can work in peace and safety.
Locals have expressed outrage over the incident, with many demanding urgent action against anyone abusing their position of authority. While authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests, Mosiria’s statement underscores the growing call for accountability and the enforcement of the rule of law in local markets.
The Kisumu Kibuye Market case highlights ongoing concerns about safety, law enforcement, and the protection of vulnerable citizens in public spaces.
