Matuga Police Station officers in Kwale County have arrested two individuals suspected of drug trafficking in the Vuga area. The arrests were made on Monday, November 10, 2025, following credible intelligence, the National Police Service (NPS) confirmed.
According to a statement on the NPS official X account, the suspects, a man and a woman, were apprehended during an operation that led to the recovery of 20 rolls of a substance believed to be cannabis sativa. The two were later escorted to the police station and are awaiting processing and arraignment in court.
“During the operation, the officers recovered 20 rolls of a substance believed to be cannabis sativa. The suspects were escorted to the police station awaiting processing and arraignment in court,” the NPS said.
The arrests highlight the continued efforts by the National Police Service to combat narcotics and other criminal activities across Kenya. “The National Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to combating narcotics and all other forms of crime nationwide,” the statement added.
This latest crackdown in Kwale follows a similar incident in Mandera County, where police recovered at least 700 rolls of cannabis sativa, three kilograms of unprocessed cannabis, and an unregistered motorcycle. The Mandera operation took place on November 10, 2025, in the Shantoley area, and police are currently searching for a key suspect who remains at large.
These operations reflect the ongoing nationwide strategy by Kenyan police to target drug trafficking networks and secure evidence for prosecution. Authorities continue to urge members of the public to provide credible information that can aid law enforcement in curbing illegal drug activities.
With the suspects in Kwale now in police custody, authorities are preparing for their legal proceedings while maintaining a strong stance against narcotics and organized crime. The NPS has reiterated its dedication to safeguarding communities and ensuring justice is served.
