Lamu police have arrested four individuals following a raid in the Wiyoni area, leading to the recovery of weapons and a large quantity of drugs.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers from Lamu Police Station acted on a tip-off from the public and conducted the operation on November 18, 2025. During the raid, the police recovered an assortment of weapons, including pangas, spears, and metal rods, as well as a substantial quantity of cannabis sativa.
The four suspects were taken into custody at Lamu Police Station, where they are being held pending processing and subsequent arraignment in court. Authorities stressed that this operation is part of their ongoing efforts to curb crime and enhance public safety.
“On 18th November 2025, police officers from Lamu Police Station, acting on a tip-off from the public, conducted a successful raid on a house in the Wiyoni area. They arrested four individuals and recovered an assortment of weapons, including pangas, spears, and metal rods, as well as a substantial quantity of cannabis sativa,” the NPS said.
The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to the nearest police station.
In a related incident, law enforcement officers in Huruma, Starehe Sub-County, recovered a firearm during a routine night patrol. The incident occurred in the early hours of November 19, 2025, when an individual fled upon spotting officers, dropping the weapon in the process. The firearm has since been secured and documented by crime scene investigators, while authorities continue to pursue leads to apprehend the suspect.
The NPS lauded the swift action of officers in both operations and reiterated its commitment to fighting crime and protecting the public. Community cooperation remains key, as authorities encourage anyone with information to assist in keeping neighborhoods safe.
