Detectives in Kiambu County are investigating the mysterious death of a 24-year-old man who was discovered lifeless outside his apartment in Kirigiti.
The body of the man, identified as Daniel Muthoga, was found on the verandah of the third floor of his residential flat. Witnesses said blood was oozing from his mouth, raising concerns that he may have sustained severe internal injuries before succumbing to death.
According to preliminary reports, Muthoga returned home in the early hours of September 15 with visible injuries. He had wounds on his head as well as bruises on his knees and hands. Authorities suspect that he may have been attacked elsewhere before managing to reach his home, where he collapsed and died just outside his door.
The motive behind the killing has not yet been established. Homicide detectives have since revisited the crime scene and begun retracing the victim’s last movements to piece together the events leading to his death. His body was later moved to the mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
In a separate incident in Bungoma County, a 39-year-old man lost his life after being accused of stealing cassava in Lukhuna village. Identified as Henry Barasa, the victim was brutally assaulted and sustained deep cuts on the head and left hand. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly afterward. Police have confirmed that they are pursuing a known suspect linked to the fatal attack.
Meanwhile, in Litein town, Kericho County, a domestic dispute ended in tragedy after a vegetable vendor fatally stabbed a carwash attendant during an altercation. The victim, identified as 28-year-old Barnabas Kiprotich, was stabbed in the clavicle with a kitchen knife. Witnesses reported that the confrontation between the two escalated quickly before the woman attacked him.
The assailant attempted to escape but was intercepted and apprehended by local residents. The murder weapon, which she had discarded in a nearby field, was later recovered by police. Kiprotich’s body was moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
