Police have launched investigations into the murder of a 40-year-old man whose body was discovered dumped at a farm in Makuyu, Murang’a County. The victim, identified as John Gachoka Gichuhi, was found with head injuries and his body covered with a jacket soaked in blood. Officers also recovered a stone with traces of blood and soil nearby, suspected to have been used in the attack.
According to police, the deceased lived alone at the time of his death. A concerned neighbour visited his home on October 9, 2025, and discovered the lifeless body dumped at a nearby farm. The motive behind the brutal killing remains unclear, and the body has been moved to the mortuary for an autopsy as investigations continue.
In another incident in Tana River County, a 40-year-old man died following an attack at Takamba village in Bangale. Unknown assailants stormed a camp where residents were staying, injuring two people and killing one. The deceased was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival. Police have yet to establish the motive behind the assault and have launched a manhunt for the attackers.
Meanwhile, in Bura, also within Tana River, gunmen opened fire at a watering point, killing a 30-year-old man identified as Muhamud Abdi Elema. He sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the upper arm and died instantly. Investigators recovered two spent cartridges of 7.62mm × 39 calibre at the scene. Police suspect the shooting may have been a revenge attack linked to a previous killing in the area, warning residents of possible retaliatory violence.
Elsewhere, tragedy struck in Kathiani, Machakos County, where an 88-year-old man, Samuel Muoka Mathai, was burned to death in his kitchen. The elderly man, who had been disabled for years and lived alone, was found dead after his house caught fire. The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined, and police are probing the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In Trans Nzoia County, a 32-year-old man, Amos Kipruto, was found dead under a tree after allegedly being beaten by locals over claims of maize theft from his uncle. He later succumbed to his injuries. Police condemned the act and cautioned against mob justice, urging the public to hand over suspects to law enforcement agencies.
Authorities have raised concerns over the growing number of violent incidents across counties and vowed to intensify investigations to curb the rising insecurity.
