During a recent court hearing, Nelson Ibrahim Kidero, alias Nelson Muriithi, a man who had previously claimed that President William Ruto was his father and confessed to entering Bunge Towers unlawfully in search of his 13 wives, shocked attendees with a food request. Kidero, appearing before Milimani Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi on charges of unlawful entry into Bunge Towers, declared that he was hungry and requested milk and bread.
Kidero, who had pleaded not guilty to the charge of accessing the Bunge Towers parking area, stated that he was prepared to return to Kamiti Maximum Prison instead of paying bail. Magistrate Ekhubi, concerned by Kidero’s demeanor, suggested that he undergo a mental health assessment, a decision the prosecution agreed with. The court then adjourned, directing the authorities to expedite the assessment.
When the magistrate inquired about his wellbeing at Industrial Area Prison, Kidero responded by saying he was not being fed well, adding that he was hungry. Ekhubi, showing sympathy, asked what he would like to eat. Kidero humorously replied that he wanted milk and bread, estimating the cost at Ksh120 for both. Magistrate Ekhubi then instructed his court assistant to give a police officer Ksh500 to purchase the food for Kidero, providing a moment of light-heartedness in an otherwise serious session.
In addition to his food request, Kidero made other eccentric claims during the proceedings. He described the Industrial Area Prison as haunted by demons, claiming that he was the only one capable of handling them. In contrast, he spoke more favorably of Kamiti, stating that there were no demons there, although he opposed the idea of being transferred there, expressing a preference for his “normal life” in Kayole.
Kidero also shared personal grievances about the food in prison, stating that he was uncomfortable with the good quality of food served in Industrial Area, preferring the simpler life he was accustomed to back in Kayole. His court appearance ended with laughter from the attendees as the magistrate noted his unusual behavior and ordered a mental assessment.
The matter is set to be mentioned again on October 9, 2025.
