Detectives in Kiambu County are investigating a harrowing domestic violence incident in Juja Town where a man stabbed and killed his wife before attempting to take his own life.
The attack unfolded at dawn on Sunday, September 7, 2025, on the second floor of the Vatican apartment block. According to initial reports, the victim, identified as Rosemary, returned home in the early morning hours and found her husband asleep. What began as a heated argument inside their bedroom quickly escalated into a violent confrontation that spilled over into the kitchen.
During the altercation, the husband allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and repeatedly stabbed Rosemary in the chest, stomach, and thighs until she collapsed. A house help who tried to intervene sustained injuries to her hand after being attacked by the suspect, forcing her to retreat for her safety.
After attacking his wife, the suspect turned the knife on himself, stabbing his chest and stomach multiple times before leaping from the balcony in what appeared to be an attempt to end his life. Despite his actions, he survived but was left with serious injuries, including broken limbs. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition, while the injured house help also received treatment.
Responding officers who arrived at the scene found Rosemary lying lifeless in the kitchen, surrounded by a pool of blood. Her body was later taken to Thika General Kago Mortuary for preservation pending an autopsy.
Authorities have not yet established the motive behind the brutal killing. Detectives are waiting for the suspect to stabilize in hospital so he can provide a statement that may shed light on what triggered the violence.
Police in Kiambu have since urged families to embrace dialogue and resolve conflicts peacefully to prevent similar tragedies. They also raised concern over the rising number of domestic disputes and love-related quarrels escalating into murder cases across the region.
The investigation remains ongoing as the community grapples with the shocking events that have left a family shattered and a neighborhood in disbelief.
