A man who caused a stir by breaking into Bunge Towers, allegedly in search of his 13 wives, has been revealed as a 19-year-old Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate. Nelson Ibrahim Kidero, also known as Nelson Muriithi, was recently in court after unlawfully accessing the Bunge Towers in Nairobi on two separate occasions earlier this year.
Kidero, who claims to be the son of President William Ruto, faced charges for entering the building without permission on July 30 and August 7, 2025. On both occasions, he was found loitering in restricted areas of the Bunge Towers, including the reception area and the parking lot, without lawful authority.
During a court hearing, Kidero’s uncle, Kelvin Chege, spoke on his behalf, expressing concerns over Kidero’s mental state. Chege suggested that his nephew may have been under the influence of a substance, which could explain his erratic behavior and unlawful actions. According to Chege, Kidero has been living under his care after his parents became unavailable, with the young man’s father continuing to fund his education.
Despite the troubling circumstances, Kidero’s case took a more positive turn when it was revealed that he is scheduled to sit for the upcoming KCSE exams, beginning on October 21, 2025, at Brookshine Secondary School in Kayole. In court, Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi encouraged Kidero to focus on his studies, praising his intelligence and urging him to aspire for a future in law. When asked what he hoped to become, Kidero expressed a desire to be a barrister.
The court decided to release Kidero into the custody of his uncle, under the condition that he undergoes a medical examination and is closely monitored to prevent further incidents. Magistrate Ekhubi emphasized the importance of Kidero’s rehabilitation and requested that he not be allowed to leave his uncle’s care until he is deemed fit to rejoin society without causing harm.
This case has attracted significant attention, especially given the unusual nature of Kidero’s claims and his unlawful actions. As Kidero prepares for his exams, it remains to be seen how his case will unfold and whether he can overcome the challenges in his life to achieve his dreams of becoming a barrister.
