Police in Nyandarua Central Sub-County have launched a manhunt for a 27-year-old man suspected of brutally killing two of his siblings and leaving two others critically injured in a shocking domestic attack.
The incident was reported on Thursday night at Mundi area within Mundi Sub-location. Authorities say the suspect descended on his family members with a sharp object, inflicting fatal injuries. Responding officers found the bodies of a 29-year-old woman and a nine-year-old boy lying in their parents’ house in pools of blood. Both had deep stab wounds on their faces and necks, suggesting a violent struggle.
Two other siblings, aged nine and 13, also sustained serious injuries during the assault. They were rushed to JM Kariuki Hospital, where they remain admitted in critical condition under close medical supervision. Police crime scene officers documented the site, taking photographs and collecting evidence to aid investigations. The bodies of the deceased were transferred to JM Kariuki Hospital Mortuary, where post-mortem examinations are scheduled.
Investigators are yet to establish the motive behind the gruesome attack, but early reports suggest it was a domestic conflict that spiraled into violence. Security teams in Nyandarua have mounted an intensive search for the suspect, urging locals to provide any information that could lead to his arrest.
The killings have sent shockwaves across the quiet rural community, with residents expressing fear and disbelief over the tragedy. Local leaders have appealed for calm, promising justice for the victims. Police have reassured the public that the suspect will be apprehended and face the full force of the law.
In a separate case in Kericho East Sub-County, a 24-year-old bodaboda rider was attacked and robbed by a passenger on Thursday afternoon. The victim, identified as Kevin Kipsang, was approached at Pakson Stage near the County Assembly by a man seeking transport to Telwet area.
Along the way, at Ki Tea Estate, the passenger requested to take a photo. After receiving the rider’s phone, the passenger turned violent, stabbing him on the head and ear before fleeing. Kipsang was rescued by a good Samaritan and taken to Medistar Hospital, where doctors say he is in stable condition.
Police in Kericho are investigating the case and pursuing the assailant.
