Detectives in Nairobi are investigating a shocking incident after the body of a man who had been reported missing was discovered at the Talanta City Stadium construction site in Jamhuri.
The deceased, identified as 35-year-old Sammy Kyengo, had been missing since 6 September 2025. His family had spent days searching in hospitals, mortuaries, and police stations without success. The search came to a devastating end on 13 September when casual workers stumbled upon his body while clearing materials at the site to prepare for plastering.
According to police reports, the body was found inside a water sump and had been concealed with wooden boards behind the terraces under construction. This deliberate attempt to hide the remains has raised suspicions of foul play. Injuries were visible on the back of Kyengo’s head and the right side of his neck. Blood was also found oozing from his nose and mouth, further deepening suspicions that he was murdered.
The incident forced managers at the site to suspend construction activities on Saturday to allow investigators to secure the scene and collect evidence. The body was later transferred to the mortuary, where an autopsy is expected to be conducted to help establish the exact cause of death.
Family members expressed their grief, explaining how they had been frantically searching for their loved one since his disappearance. Workers at the stadium construction site confirmed that they had seen him on the day he vanished but could not account for his movements afterward. Detectives are now piecing together his last moments to determine whether his death was linked to individuals at the site or if he was brought there later.
The discovery has cast a shadow over the high-profile stadium project, which is part of ongoing efforts to expand sports infrastructure in Nairobi. Investigators continue to pursue leads in a bid to uncover the motive and the people behind the killing.
In a separate but equally disturbing incident in Naiberi, Uasin Gishu County, police arrested a man accused of killing his daughter after a domestic altercation in Huruma. The young girl sustained severe head injuries following the assault and later died while receiving treatment in hospital. The suspect is expected to face murder charges.
Both cases highlight the rising concerns over violent crime in different parts of the country, with families left mourning the loss of loved ones under tragic and brutal circumstances.
