A decomposed body of a seven-year-old boy was discovered in a thicket in the Kitini area of Kambiti, Murang’a County, sparking a police investigation into a suspected murder. The body, which was wrapped in a piece of cloth, was found on Saturday afternoon. Authorities believe the boy may have been killed elsewhere and his remains dumped at the scene.
So far, no arrest has been made, and the motive behind the gruesome act remains unclear. Efforts to identify the victim are ongoing. By Sunday, the body had been moved to a local mortuary for an autopsy and further forensic procedures.
The tragic discovery in Murang’a is just one of several chilling murder incidents reported across Kenya over the weekend. In Barwesa, Baringo County, a 28-year-old woman was found dead by the roadside. Her body bore deep head wounds, and her right hand had been severed. Investigators recovered a broken mobile phone and a handbag from the scene. She was later identified as Pensive Samalong.
A man believed to be her boyfriend surrendered to police and is now in custody. According to officers, the suspect confessed that a domestic altercation between the two had spiraled into fatal violence.
In another incident, police arrested three individuals in Kalawa, Mbooni, Makueni County, over the murder of Robinson Mumo Munyao, aged 35. His body, discovered early Saturday at Kalawa Market, had two deep cuts to the forehead. The trio was apprehended after preliminary investigations linked them to the brutal killing.
Separately, a man in the Makongo area of Kamulu, Ruai Sub-County, was arrested after he allegedly attempted to kill his wife during a domestic altercation. The suspect reportedly struck his wife on the head, causing a serious wound, and inflicted further injuries on both her arms. The victim was rushed to Ruai Family Hospital in critical condition.
These incidents have stirred public concern about the rising cases of murder, domestic violence, and child safety across the country. Authorities have promised thorough investigations and are urging the public to report any suspicious activity to help bring the perpetrators to justice.
