Police in Nakuru County are investigating a fatal stabbing that claimed the life of a 26-year-old man following a confrontation with his neighbour in Kuresoi.
The deceased, identified as Hilary Kipkoech, reportedly sustained serious injuries after being attacked during a quarrel in the Nyota area. He succumbed to his wounds shortly after the assault. According to preliminary reports, the suspect, who is Kipkoech’s neighbour, also stabbed and injured his own brother before fleeing the scene. Authorities have launched a manhunt for the attacker as investigations continue.
The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary for post-mortem examination. Police said they are working to establish the motive behind the attack, which has left residents in shock.
In a separate incident in Kobujoi, Nandi County, police are investigating another fatal stabbing involving a secondary school student. The victim, identified as 19-year-old Form Three student Dismus Kiptoo from Kimaren Secondary School, was reportedly attacked with a pair of scissors following a disagreement. He sustained a deep stab wound to the neck and was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
A 17-year-old juvenile has since been arrested in connection with the killing and is being held for questioning. Officers at the scene expressed concern about possible retaliatory attacks and urged calm as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in Kiambu County, a fire incident in Mai-Hihi area of Karai claimed the life of a 47-year-old farm worker. The victim, John Kingoo, was reportedly asleep when the fire broke out. Residents managed to contain the blaze, but his remains were found in the burnt structure.
Elsewhere in Kabarnet, Baringo County, seven construction workers were injured after a four-storey building under construction collapsed at the Kenya School of Government – Baringo Campus. Investigations into the cause of the collapse are ongoing.
