Two people were shot and killed during a violent robbery at a shop in the Lolgorian area of Kilgoris, Narok County, on Wednesday night. Police say a gang of suspected robbers stormed a shop at Loliondo Centre and opened fire, killing shop owner Mohamed Musa, 34, and customer Simeon Naiswago, 40.
According to authorities, the gang — whose size was not immediately known — demanded money and other valuables from Musa moments after entering the shop. A brief confrontation ensued, during which the attackers shot Musa at close range, hitting him under the left armpit. Naiswago, who had reportedly visited the shop to buy household items, was shot in the stomach.
The assailants escaped on foot with an unknown amount of money. Residents rushed the two victims to a nearby hospital, but they were pronounced dead on arrival. Police later moved the bodies to the mortuary, where autopsies are expected to be conducted.
A crowd gathered at the scene as officers launched initial investigations. Detectives revisited the shop on Friday as part of ongoing efforts to identify and track down the gang. Authorities say the area has recently witnessed a surge in crime, prompting the deployment of special squads to pursue suspects believed to be behind the attacks.
In a separate case in Murang’a County, police in Sabasaba are probing the death of 35-year-old Loise Muthoni, who was found dead on a farm in Kahaini village. Her husband has been arrested for questioning as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, in Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County, police are investigating the death of 33-year-old William Owenga, who was reportedly assaulted by residents after being accused of stealing and cooking a chicken. Authorities have condemned the incident, urging the public to avoid mob justice and hand over suspects to law enforcement.
Police say all three incidents remain under active investigation as they work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
