In the ongoing murder trial of socialite Starlet Wahu, new evidence was presented to the court by Police Constable Allan Njoka, who is currently attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Nairobi County. Njoka was a scene of crime officer who documented critical items from the apartment where Wahu’s lifeless body was discovered. Wahu, who was killed on January 3, 2024, at the Papino Apartment in South B, Nairobi, was allegedly murdered by John Matara, though he has denied the charges.
During the hearing at Milimani High Court on October 2, 2025, Constable Njoka submitted 21 photographs, which included disturbing details from the crime scene. Among the items he recovered were a used condom sachet, an HIV test kit, a knife with blood stains, a handbag, and a passport bearing the deceased’s name. These items were found in the apartment where the victim’s body was discovered. Notably, a close-up image of a used condom was taken by Njoka, further highlighting the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Njoka also presented images that showed blood stains in both the sitting room and bedroom, alongside photographs of the victim’s body with visible injuries. The deceased’s forehead and left ear had noticeable wounds, and a stab wound was evident on her right thigh. Additionally, the photographs captured a knife with blood stains located behind a sofa, which is believed to have been the murder weapon.
The recovered items and photographs are crucial to the investigation, as they could offer insights into the events leading up to Wahu’s death. The used condom and HIV test kit have raised questions about possible sexual assault, while the presence of blood stains and a knife points to a violent struggle. The accused, John Matara, has maintained his innocence, and the court has summoned six key witnesses to testify.
As the investigation continues, the recovered evidence could play a significant role in determining the true nature of the crime. The case is attracting widespread attention, with many waiting for further developments and conclusions from the ongoing court proceedings.
