Police in Garissa have intensified their fight against drug trafficking after officers apprehended a person of interest connected to the narcotics trade in the Ziwani area of Garissa Town. The arrest, which took place on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, marks another step in the ongoing crackdown targeting the circulation of illegal substances in the region.
Acting on intelligence reports, officers intercepted the suspect who was found in possession of a red carrier bag containing 20 balls of cannabis sativa. Alongside the drugs, police recovered Ksh1,800 in mixed denominations suspected to be proceeds from the illegal trade. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and is being held at Garissa Police Station for further processing.
Authorities confirmed that the seized cannabis has been secured as an exhibit and will form part of the evidence in court once investigations are complete. The suspect is expected to be arraigned after police conclude their inquiries.
