Police in Baringo County have arrested a man found in possession of cannabis valued at approximately Ksh.2 million during a security operation in Timboroa. The operation, conducted on October 13, 2025, followed intelligence reports that led officers to intercept a suspicious vehicle believed to be ferrying narcotics along the busy Nakuru–Eldoret Highway.
According to police reports, officers from Timboroa Police Station stopped a grey metallic Toyota Noah that was suspected of being used to transport the illegal substance. The vehicle was flagged down after surveillance indicated it was part of a broader network involved in drug trafficking between counties in the Rift Valley region.
Upon searching the vehicle, the officers discovered four large sacks containing 759 brooms of cannabis carefully concealed inside. The drugs, estimated to be worth around Ksh.2 million, were seized as exhibits and transported to the station for documentation and further analysis.
The driver, who was alone in the vehicle at the time of the arrest, was immediately taken into custody. The vehicle was impounded to aid in ongoing investigations, as authorities seek to establish the source and intended destination of the narcotics. Investigators believe the consignment may have been destined for urban markets, where demand for illicit substances remains a growing concern.
Police confirmed that the suspect will be charged in court once investigations are completed. The case is part of an ongoing national crackdown on drug trafficking, aimed at dismantling networks responsible for the production, transport, and sale of illegal drugs across the country.
Authorities commended the officers involved in the operation for their vigilance and swift action, noting that the successful seizure reflects the government’s continued efforts to combat the trade in narcotics and protect communities from the dangers of substance abuse. The police further reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining strict surveillance on major transport routes commonly used by traffickers to move illegal substances.
This latest arrest highlights the increasing cooperation between security agencies and intelligence units in curbing the spread of drugs across Kenyan counties. Law enforcement has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug distribution, emphasizing that community collaboration remains key in winning the fight against narcotics.
