Police have arrested a suspected gang member believed to be linked to a criminal network operating in the Esirulo area of Vihiga County. The operation was carried out in the early hours of Friday, September 26, during a routine night patrol by officers in Emuhaya Sub-County.
According to police, the suspect was intercepted at around 2:30 am while in possession of a machete. Following his arrest, officers conducted a raid on his residence in Ikaliha Village, where several items believed to be stolen property were recovered.
Among the recovered items were four machetes, a sword, a kitchen knife, two balaclavas, military boots, a gas cylinder, school set books, and a Sony radio. The items were secured as exhibits and are expected to be presented as evidence in court.
The suspect is currently being held in custody as police process his case ahead of arraignment. Authorities have indicated that the arrest marks progress in their broader effort to dismantle criminal gangs that have been terrorizing residents in parts of Vihiga County and beyond.
