Authorities in Kikuyu Sub-County are intensifying efforts to track down a person of interest following the discovery of a cache of suspected stolen electronic devices and accessories. The items were found inside a one-bedroom apartment located at Havila Plus Apartments in Kikuyu, prompting a swift response by law enforcement.
Among the items recovered were 66 assorted iPhones, two Samsung Fold phones, a Motorola Fold phone, an HP laptop, an Apple iPad, and an Apple desktop computer. Also seized were several specialized electronic tools, including a 4-in-1 universal rotary fixture, a CP Log separating tool with a glass heating platform, and a JCID VISE JC programmer main unit. A drone complete with its controller was also found at the scene.
In addition to the electronic devices, police recovered six vehicle ignition keys, a motor vehicle logbook, an AC adapter, and multiple other repair tools believed to be used in tampering with stolen gadgets. A motor vehicle suspected to be carrying more stolen phones was towed away for further inspection.
The apartment was locked and sealed by investigators, with all recovered items securely stored at the local police station. A full investigation is ongoing to establish the origin of the items and the identity of the suspect, who remains at large.
This bust in Kikuyu occurred just a day after a related operation in Nairobi’s Central Business District led to the arrest of a suspect linked to a phone theft syndicate. The individual, identified as a key figure in the network, was captured during an intelligence-driven operation. He was found in possession of stolen phones and was caught altering their IMEI numbers—an act believed to be aimed at masking the identity of the devices and preventing tracking.
The operations underscore a broader police effort to dismantle phone theft syndicates operating across Nairobi and its surrounding areas. Investigators believe the recent developments point to an interconnected criminal enterprise, and the ongoing manhunt aims to bring more suspects to justice.
As police widen their dragnet, they are calling on the public to report any suspicious activities or knowledge related to the case to aid in the investigations.
