Police in Timboroa intercepted a vehicle transporting cannabis valued at approximately Ksh600,000 following a successful intelligence-led operation along the Eldoret–Nakuru highway.
Acting on credible information, officers established a roadblock at Timboroa Stage targeting a white Toyota Probox suspected of ferrying illegal substances. Shortly after the roadblock was set up, the vehicle, with three occupants on board, approached the checkpoint. Upon spotting the police, the driver attempted to speed past the barrier in a bid to evade arrest.
In the process of the escape attempt, the vehicle’s two right-side tyres were punctured by a spike barrier, forcing the car to a stop near Lake Narasha. The suspects then abandoned the vehicle and fled into the nearby Timboroa Forest.
A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of two bales of cannabis, each weighing approximately 10.5 kilograms. The bales were wrapped in yellow Sellotape and are believed to have a street value of around Ksh600,000.
The vehicle was towed to the Timboroa Police Station for further processing, as a manhunt was immediately launched in the surrounding forest to apprehend the fleeing individuals.
Authorities have urged members of the public to come forward with any information that might help in identifying or locating the suspects. Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and intended destination of the seized narcotics.
This incident highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to crack down on drug trafficking operations within the country. The strategic use of intelligence and quick response by the police played a crucial role in intercepting the illegal consignment and disrupting the drug supply route.
Law enforcement continues to encourage community cooperation in identifying and reporting suspicious activities, as collaboration with the public remains a key element in combating organized crime and narcotics distribution networks.
