Police in Molo Sub-County, Nakuru County, intercepted a motorcycle rider after a dramatic high-speed chase that ended with the recovery of several stolen items. The incident, which unfolded on the evening of August 18, 2025, highlighted the heightened vigilance of security patrols in the area.
According to the report, officers on routine patrol spotted two unregistered motorcycles in the Keep Left area of Molo. Each motorbike was carrying a green sack with suspicious contents. When the officers attempted to stop them, the riders defied orders and sped off, triggering a pursuit.
One suspect was eventually cornered and arrested, while the other managed to escape towards Mutirithia, abandoning his motorcycle in the process. Upon searching the recovered sacks, officers discovered nine assorted 6kg gas cylinders, believed to be stolen property.
Investigations revealed that both motorcycles had their frame numbers tampered with and deliberately erased, a clear attempt to conceal their true identity. This discovery suggested that the suspects may have been part of a larger criminal network specializing in the transportation and distribution of stolen goods.
The arrested rider, described as a known repeat offender, has a record of multiple prior convictions and acquittals at the Molo Law Courts. His re-arrest once again placed him at the center of ongoing concerns about habitual offenders returning to criminal activities shortly after release.
The suspect is currently being held at Molo Police Station, awaiting arraignment. Meanwhile, authorities have launched a manhunt for the second rider who managed to escape during the chase. Security agencies in Nakuru County are also investigating whether the stolen gas cylinders were linked to recent thefts reported in the region.
This incident underscores the persistent challenge faced by law enforcement officers in dealing with criminals who attempt to evade justice through identity concealment and repeat offenses. It also highlights the importance of continuous police patrols in high-risk zones, which play a key role in deterring crime and recovering stolen property.
The recovered items and the intercepted motorcycles are now part of ongoing investigations, as police work to dismantle the broader network involved. The outcome of this case will determine whether additional suspects linked to the operation are brought to justice.
