Police in Awendo, Migori County, arrested a person of interest transporting a sack of bhang along the Migori–Kisii Road. The arrest, made on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, came after officers received intelligence on suspicious activity in the area. The suspect, who was using a motorcycle to ferry the sack of cannabis, was placed in custody pending legal proceedings.
On the same day, a separate sting operation in Ahero, Kisumu County, led to the discovery of bhang worth an estimated Ksh12 million. The narcotics were concealed in a residential house. Four individuals were apprehended during the operation, which was carried out jointly by police and anti-drug enforcement officers. All four are in custody awaiting arraignment in court.
Elsewhere in Uasin Gishu County, officers on patrol in the Munyaka area intercepted another suspect with 168 rolls of bhang. The arrest was executed by police officers from Kapsoya Police Station. The suspect was taken to the station and placed in custody, while the confiscated narcotics were secured as evidence.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to combating drug trafficking across the country, stating that security operations will continue to target individuals involved in the illegal trade. Residents have been urged to actively participate by reporting any suspicious activity linked to drugs. Police emphasized that community engagement is critical in reducing the circulation of illegal substances and dismantling networks that profit from the trade.
