A police officer was injured after accidentally shooting himself during a botched robbery attempt on a private home in Dudi area, Khwisero, Kakamega County. The officer, armed with an AK-47 rifle, was in the company of unidentified individuals suspected of being burglars when they broke into the residence. During the chaos that ensued, his weapon discharged a bullet, striking him in the left knee. He was rushed to the hospital with a serious wound and is reported to be in stable condition.
Police responded to the scene of the break-in and managed to fatally shoot one of the suspected burglars. The other accomplices escaped and remain at large. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects and determine the full circumstances surrounding the officer’s involvement in the incident.
In a separate case, authorities are investigating the suspected murder of a 52-year-old man whose body was discovered in a house following the sale of two sheep. The man was found lying on the floor with blood oozing from his mouth, raising suspicions of foul play. His wife has been taken into custody as investigations continue. The body was moved to a local mortuary for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Meanwhile, in Magadi, Kajiado County, another body was discovered in a bush in the Intasopia area. The deceased, a 37-year-old man, was found in an advanced state of decomposition, making identification difficult. Police have arrested two suspects believed to be connected to the incident. The remains were transferred to the mortuary for postmortem examination.
In yet another disturbing development, a 53-year-old woman was found dead in Nyalenda, Kisumu County, in what is suspected to be a case of suicide. The motive behind her death remains unclear, and authorities have launched an investigation to uncover the reasons behind the incident.
