Police officers in Kinoo, Kiambu County, have rescued a Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officer who had been abducted and tied up in a car boot by a gang of robbers.
The dramatic rescue took place in the early hours of Monday, October 6, 2025, after officers on patrol received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked along a road in the area. Acting swiftly, the police moved to investigate the vehicle, prompting the occupants to attempt an escape.
A brief chase ensued before the officers managed to stop the car. Two suspects were arrested at the scene, while others reportedly fled on foot. Upon searching the vehicle, police were shocked to find a man blindfolded, tied up, and locked inside the boot.
Further investigations revealed that the victim was a Kenya Wildlife Service officer who had been travelling to Nairobi when he was ambushed and attacked by the gang. According to preliminary reports, the suspects had overpowered him along the route, robbed him, and stuffed him into the boot before being intercepted by police.
The officer was immediately freed and taken to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. Police have since launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects who escaped during the operation.
Kiambu County Police Commander commended the officers for their quick response and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
“The swift action of our officers prevented what could have been a tragic incident,” the commander said, reaffirming the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all citizens.
The two suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to face charges related to kidnapping and robbery with violence as investigations continue.
