Police officers in Kinoo, Kiambu County, successfully rescued a Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officer who had been abducted and blindfolded by a gang of robbers in the early hours of Monday morning. The dramatic rescue occurred after a police patrol team received information about a suspicious vehicle operating in the area. Acting swiftly, the officers intercepted the vehicle, leading to the rescue of the kidnapped officer and the arrest of two suspects.
According to police reports, the patrol team moved in to inspect the suspicious vehicle, but the occupants attempted to flee. A brief chase ensued, after which officers managed to stop the car and arrest two individuals. Upon searching the vehicle, the officers made a shocking discovery — a man tied up and blindfolded in the car boot. Further investigations revealed that the victim was a KWS officer who had been travelling to Nairobi before being attacked and kidnapped by the gang.
The officer recounted that the suspects had withdrawn money from his mobile wallet before confining him in the car boot. Preliminary findings also revealed that the suspects had been targeting unsuspecting passengers along the route before their arrest. The police intervention prevented the gang from carrying out further robberies that morning.
During the operation, police recovered several stolen mobile phones believed to have been taken from previous victims. The recovered items were secured as evidence as investigations continued to trace the remaining members of the gang who escaped during the confrontation. Authorities confirmed that manhunts are ongoing in nearby areas to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The National Police Service commended the officers involved in the rescue for their vigilance, courage, and quick response, noting that their actions not only saved the life of the abducted officer but also stopped the criminals from targeting more innocent citizens.
Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through the toll-free emergency lines 999, 911, or 112. They assured residents of continued patrols and intensified investigations to ensure all culprits are brought to justice. The rescued KWS officer is reported to be safe and is currently assisting the police with further information that could help dismantle the gang’s network.
