Police officers have recovered 139 rolls of bhang during a joint operation in Kiambu County, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat illicit drug trade in the region. The operation, carried out by officers from Ikinu Police Station and National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs), took place during a routine patrol in Magoto Village, Ngemwa Sub-location, Githunguri.
The officers were on regular patrol when they encountered a known drug peddler. The suspect fled the scene upon noticing the law enforcement team, abandoning a package which was later found to contain the rolls of bhang. Authorities have launched investigations to track down the suspect, who remains at large.
The drug recovery in Kiambu is part of a broader crackdown on narcotics across the country. Just days earlier, a separate operation in the Watamu area led to the arrest of three individuals linked to drug trafficking. The arrests followed a public tip-off that prompted officers to search a house in the Timboroni area.
Inside the residence, police discovered a stash that included 14 sachets of heroin, around 100 grams of cannabis sativa, syringes, plastic packaging sheets, and sterilised alcohol pads. The paraphernalia suggested that the suspects were actively involved in drug packaging and possible distribution. A further search uncovered a spent cartridge and a ledger with sketches of firearms, raising additional security concerns.
The three individuals were detained and are expected to face charges in court as investigations continue. Their arrest adds momentum to national efforts aimed at dismantling drug networks and securing communities.
The police acknowledged the crucial role played by the public in both cases. The timely information provided by residents was instrumental in uncovering the drug operations. Authorities praised the community’s cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening partnerships in the ongoing war against drugs.
As the crackdown intensifies, law enforcement agencies are urging citizens to remain alert and report any suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. The latest recoveries underscore a determined push by security agencies to create drug-free communities and uphold public safety across Kenya.
