In a successful operation on Mashujaa Day, police in Nakuru seized a significant quantity of bhang and apprehended a suspect. The operation, carried out by officers from the Temoyetta Police Station, was based on a tip-off received from the public.
The operation led authorities to the Kamure area, where they arrested one individual in connection with the illegal drugs. Upon searching the suspect, officers discovered at least 30 rolls of cannabis. The suspect was promptly taken into custody and is awaiting arraignment in court. The confiscated drugs were secured at the police station as part of the ongoing efforts to combat illicit drug trafficking in the region.
The National Police Service (NPS) commended the public for their continued cooperation in sharing vital intelligence, which helps in the fight against crime and the trafficking of illegal substances. The police further encouraged members of the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to aid law enforcement.
This operation comes amid rising concerns about drug trafficking in various parts of the country, with Nakuru and neighboring counties being focal points in the battle against the illegal drug trade. The NPS has made it clear that they are committed to curbing this menace, and that public collaboration is key in achieving this goal.
Just a day earlier, in a similar operation in Uasin Gishu County, officers from Turbo Police Station were able to intercept a motorcycle carrying two suspects believed to be involved in drug trafficking. Though the suspects managed to escape on foot, they left behind a bag containing 20 brooms of cannabis sativa and a mobile phone, which were seized by the authorities. Efforts to locate and arrest the suspects are still ongoing, with the confiscated motorcycle and drugs being held as evidence.
The series of successful operations underscores the importance of active community participation in reporting criminal activities. With continued cooperation between the public and the police, authorities hope to make further strides in reducing the availability of illicit drugs on the streets and to hold those responsible for their distribution accountable.
