Police have launched investigations into the killing of a 45-year-old man whose body was found dumped on the roadside in Ingalwa village, Kegondi, Vihiga County. According to authorities, the deceased, identified as Meshack Sindani Mengo, was murdered elsewhere before his body was dropped in Chandumba Market on Saturday.
The victim’s body bore stab wounds on the chest and neck, suggesting a violent attack. The motive behind the killing remains unclear as detectives continue to pursue leads into what may have led to the brutal murder. The body was taken to the mortuary pending a postmortem examination to aid the ongoing investigations.
Meanwhile, separate tragic incidents were reported across the country over the weekend. In Koibatek, Baringo County, a nine-year-old girl was electrocuted while attempting to fix a water heater in a socket at her home in Seketetwo village. The incident occurred on Saturday, October 25, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was later transferred to the local mortuary as investigations were initiated.
In Kilifi County, police are probing a drowning incident at Kenya Project Estate in Mtwapa, where a ten-year-old boy lost his life in a swimming pool accident. The boy was reportedly on an outing with friends when the tragedy occurred. His body was recovered and moved to a nearby mortuary for an autopsy as officers work to establish the circumstances leading to the drowning.
Elsewhere in Tharaka Nithi County, a 52-year-old man identified as Nathan Kimathi, who had been reported missing, was found drowned in the Kathita River. Residents discovered the body, which had peeled skin on the left shoulder, before notifying the police. The remains were taken to Marimanti Level IV Mortuary for a postmortem to determine the cause of death.
In Kirinyaga County, a 30-year-old man named Patrick Nyaga collapsed and died after taking a shower in his house at Mucagara village. Police said Nyaga had finished bathing and was dressing when he suddenly fell and died. The cause of his death has yet to be established.
Separately, in Kabete, Kiambu County, a man suspected of theft succumbed to injuries after being attacked by a mob. Police moved him to the hospital following the assault, but he died hours later. Authorities have condemned mob justice, urging the public to hand over suspects to law enforcement agencies for due process.
